The Power of Skills-building: An Entrepreneurial Workshop for Young People

December 22, 2023 HFFG

Hope for Future Generations in collaboration with UNFPA Ghana trained 10 young people from the Out of School Project. This workshop supplements the previous training which was conducted in 2021 during the first phase of the project (2019-2021). After consultations were made with the trainees who made efforts to utilize the skills learned in the workshop, we decided to provide them with further training to enhance their abilities across the three regions of implementation which are: Ashanti, Greater Accra and Northern regions.

The second phase of the Out of School project continues to focus on providing accurate and quality Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights and HIV information for adolescents and young people as well as Young Persons in Detention.

We acknowledge the importance of empowering young people to live healthy lives but we also believe in equipping them with skills that enable them to generate income, sustaining themselves and their families. Thus, this supplementary skills training in bakery, wig-making soap-making and fashion-designing is a great initiative for an entrepreneurial start-up.

The incoming board Chair of HFFG paid a visit to the young trainees in Accra and was impressed by their passion for learning. He encouraged them to never give up and use challenges that arise as a springboard to elevate higher.

At the end of the training, these young people were equipped with start-up products on skills received and will be followed up on to provide any further needed support.
